Feliz Día del Niño

“A child always can teach three things to an adult: be happy without a reason, to always be busy with something and to be able to demand with all their forces all their wishes” Paulo Coelho
Tomorrow in Mexico, it’s the celebration of “The Children’s Day”; but do you know how this celebration arose?
The idea of celebrating “The Children’s Day”  arose on November 20th 1954 when the United Nations established the "Universal Children’s Day" to reaffirm children's rights and wellbeing; but every country assigned a specific date to celebrate the children. In Mexico was established on April 30th, because on November 20th is the celebration of the  Mexican Revolution.
Do you remember when we were kids? Often as adults we forget that children's spirit, that spark, imagination, spontaneity, freedom and happiness. Since we believe that for being adults we have the obligation to take everything quite seriously; but I think that without leaving our responsibilities we can still maintain in our adulthood that children's essence, to stop being so serious and to try to have fun  more often.
Let’s celebrate our inner child every day!!
Happy Children’s Day!!

Saving Bambi

Yesterday I was in shock when I saw a CNN video talking about how the town leaders of Cayuga Heights, NY; want to approve the mass deer slaughter on this town.
Some residents of this community claim that the deers are damaging plants, carrying ticks, getting hit by cars, so they are tired of the deers in this town so that’s why they decided to  start killing them.
For me the point here is, we humans invaded their space first, is beautiful to see places where animals are living freely; the deers are the original residents of this area.
There’s already a perfect balance in the universe; and their reproduction is natural, nobody is artificially reproducing the deers.
Their reason is absurd, they want to kill the deers to protect their gardens, they don’t want the deers to eat their plants, so trustees are currently in the process of approving a dangerous, immoral, and frankly bizarre plan that calls for every single deer in the village to be either killed or the lucky ones will be sterilized.
The solution is not killing them, the solution is fencing your garden, doing  intelligent, compassionate human solutions, and not creating a massacre.
Do we really want to live in a society where bureaucrats meet behind closed doors to arbitrarily decide how many of each species are allowed to live?
If you are against killing the deer, and you want to do something you can sign the petition here
Happy Wednesday, and let's protect those who do not have voice

A Great Spirit

This weekend when I went for a walk, I saw this man with prosthetic legs riding a bike like superman.
And then I just remembered Aimee Mullins conference in San Diego in 2009.
Aimee Mullins she is a brave, strong, inspirational woman; a paralympian athlete, actress, and model, without mentioning that she’s beautiful.
She was born with a birth defect called Fibular Hemimelia. This basically means she was born with no fibula bone in either of her legs. After having both of her legs amputated below the knee on her first birthday, Aimee was able to learn to walk with prosthetic legs by the time she was two, and spent her childhood doing the usual athletic activities of her peers: swimming, biking, softball, soccer, and skiing, always alongside “able-bodies” kids.
People magazine named her one of their “50 Most Beautiful People in the World” and recently she was named the new Global Brand Ambassador for L’Oreal.
The best of all, is that she’s truly an inspiration. At least for me, she’s giving me this wake-up call that you can do wherever you want to do. Doesn’t matter what the situation is or what the odds are saying.
At her conference she said... Socially I’m consider disable, but what’s the definition of disable? and then she read the definition from the dictionary and this is what it says: “handicap, weaken, cipple, damage, hamstring, paralyze, impair, debilitate, incapacitate, prostate, unman, immobilize, put out of action, disempower.”
After reading these words, do we really want to use stereotypes? because for me this definitions don’t qualify for anyone. We all are different, could be physically or in other many ways we all have different capacities. She’s not disable, and the man that I saw during my walk is not disable.
We need to be aware of our words, We have to make sure that we don't put the first block in a wall that emotional will disable someone.
Our differences it's what makes us beautiful, we should be the architects of our own identity, it’s our power to create.
She said “Adversity is only the change to which we haven’t been adapted yet” And then she closed her conference with this: “The human spirit it's so receptive. The only true disability it's a crush spirit, an sprit that has been crushed it doesn't have hope, it doesn't see beauty and no longer has our natural child like curiosity and our ability to imagine.
If instead we can boost our human spirit to keep hope, to see beauty in our selfs and others, to be curious and imaginative then we are truly using our power well. When a spirit has those qualities we are able to create new realities and new ways of being.”

"Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that we are worth celebrating, all parts of ourselves and all facets of ourselves, and that it is the complexity of who we are as people that makes us beautiful" ~ Aimee Mullins
So bring out your potential and have a beautiful inspiring week!!

Like a Butterfly

This morning I got dressed and suddenly I realized that I was wearing the colors of the monarch butterfly. I just felt with a lot of energy wearing yellow and orange.
I think butterflies are so beautiful, I just love how their wings kiss the sun.
For me they are a symbol of transformation because of its impressive process of metamorphosis. They are symbol of new life and change.
In Mexico the Aztecs associated the butterfly with the soul.

There's a story about butterflies that I read once, and I loved it:

If anyone desires a wish to come true they must first capture a butterfly and whisper that wish to it. Since a butterfly can make no sound, the butterfly can not reveal the wish to anyone but the Great Spirit who hears and sees all. In gratitude for giving the beautiful butterfly its freedom, the Great Spirit always grants the wish. So, according to the legend, by making a wish and giving the butterfly its freedom, the wish will be taken to the heavens and be granted.

So go find your butterfly and whisper your wish.
Have a great weekend and a Fabulous Earth Day!!

Remember in my post “Life Changing Experience”; where I talked about Children International and I mentioned that I have 4 Sponsored children.
Well today I’m sharing their pictures with you, I received this pictures in the mail along with a drawing and a letter from them, and I can’t believe how big they are now. I remember when I met them, they where a lot smaller, and only has been 4 months of that.
The program really works, they have been receiving nutrition, education, clothing and medical care; so that’s why they are stronger.
I feel so happy to see the changes.
In the letter that their family wrote me, because they don’t know how to write yet, they are so thankful and their words are so sweet that I got tears in my eyes. But the person who’s really Thankful is me!!

"Peace Worldwide Starts From Inside"

If you start thinking on the title of this post, it really means a lot! If you want peace, you have to be in peace with yourself.
“Peace Worldwide Starts from Inside” are the lyrics from the song  “Peace” from the Luminaries.
Luminaries are a Conscious Hip-Hop band from Venice, CA; and all their songs are filled with positive and loving messages.
I heard this song at the “GreenStock Concert and Expo”, in Scottsdale, AZ; this Expo was filled with companies and people who wants to make a change in the world teaching others how to start doing small changes in their life.
I know that I want to live in a world where everybody lives in Peace, and if you think about it, step by step, and if everyone of us makes small changes with small things, we can start changing the world and our environment.
Like Gandhi said “Be the change you want to see in the world”.
Have a great week!!

P.S. You can watch the video of the song below

P.D. Les dejo el video de la canción.

Life Changing Experience

Last december I went to the beautiful city of Cartagena Colombia... I was invited to go and participate taking pictures of the shooting for the PSA of Children International
Children International is a Non Profit Organization that for more than 70 years has been supporting children around the world fighting poverty they  provide clothing, food, education and medical care.
Being part of that crew was a wonderful experience, the children were just amazing, very loving and caring they just gave Love to everyone and they gave me the lesson to BE Happy no matter what.
And knowing that with only $22 dollars per month you can change  a life forever is just Fabulous.
Right now I’m sponsoring four children, and hopefully I will be sponsoring more in a near future.
My friend Marco Antonio Regil who’s a beautiful spirit, great human being,  and a very talented person, is the spokesperson on the PSA.
Here you can watch the PSA in English... Hopefully you can help too
